HOW DID I GET TO BE WHERE I AM ?

Early Human Wanderings

It is believed that humans first started to wander out of Africa about 55 - 75 thousand years ago.  Some subsequent generations made it as far as Europe a few thousand years later.  Others took different paths, as seen above, to different destinations about the Earth, including some who came into the Americas across the then existing Asia land bridge to become what we now call Native Americans.  However, most of those who today populate the USA had relatively modern day ancestors who made ocean crossings from Europe, Africa, or Asia.

Northern Europe

Europe to America

But, with the enabling factor of ocean going ships, and the continuing search for a better future, more ambitious migrations began

It is the Europe to North America colonization that will be emphasized here, along with the spread westward within America of their still wandering descendants, using what has been learned about the Kivett family for illustration purposes.  Like with the early humans, we can surmise when some of these movements took place, but the nagging question remains -  WHY?
